Assessing role of agricultural extension in farmers' tendencies towards land consolidation in Ilam province

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the effective factors on implementation of land consolidation plan in Ilam province. The method of work was in the form of field survey and the information has been gathered by questionnaire method and obtained data were examined by the use of SPSS -15. The population of this study consisted of the farmers of Ilam province. Using Cochran formula, 380 farmers chosen selected as sample of study. Also, questionnaire was used in order to collect needed information. Factors including education level of household heads, their awareness of the land consolidation, participation in extension-education meetings, membership in secondary groups, farming system types and land area owned had significant impacts on farmers' tendencies towards land consolidation initiative.
